Airports Near Yellowstone

Depending on the tour you plan to take at Yellowstone, your choice of airport will play an important role. There are several airports near Yellowstone that will help you get to the park without a lot of hassle.

One of the best options is Bozeman. This airport is close to both the North and East entrances of Yellowstone and offers more flight options than other large airports.

Airport Information

When planning a trip to Yellowstone, there are several different ways you can fly in and out. The best airport for you will depend on your travel dates, park entrance preferences, and budget. For example, the closest airport to Yellowstone is the Yellowstone National Park Airport in West Yellowstone (WYS). This airport is a short drive to the park’s West Entrance and offers plenty of flight options. However, it can be more expensive than other regional airports near Yellowstone.

Another option is to fly into Denver International Airport in Colorado. While this airport is a bit more expensive than flights to Salt Lake City, it is only an hour and a half from Yellowstone’s West Entrance and is much closer than flights to the smaller regional airports near Yellowstone. Additionally, flights to DIA may be cheaper in certain scenarios, depending on where you’re traveling from.

A visit to Yellowstone is a dream come true for many, and the way people travel to and from it varies. Some fly in, spend a weekend or two and then head back home. Others might be on a longer 2-week road trip that encompasses Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.

To help travelers make their journey as easy and affordable as possible, this airport offers a wide variety of parking options including short-term, long term and covered parking. It also has a number of car rental companies such as Avis, Hertz and Budget as well as shuttles and taxi services. The only caveat is that the airport does not serve flights during the winter so if you are traveling during this time, it might be better to choose another option. The Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport is about an hour and a half from the North Entrance of Yellowstone. The drive is spectacular with tight curves, craggy mountains and beautiful views.

Most travelers that fly into Yellowstone do so from Denver International Airport (DEN), which is a major US hub with affordable domestic and international flights. However, flying into DEN can add an additional 7+ hours of driving to your trip, and may not be the best option for visitors visiting outside of peak travel seasons.

Another alternative is flying into Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), which can be cheaper and offer a variety of flight options to many major cities across the country and globe. However, the drive to Yellowstone from SLC is roughly 5 hours, and some travelers prefer to take a tour instead of driving.

Finally, travelers that are interested in a shorter drive to Yellowstone can also consider Jackson Hole International Airport (JAC), which is only about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Yellowstone and offers a number of affordable flights to cities across the country. In addition, there are several Yellowstone tours available from JAC that will provide a more convenient way to visit the park.
